Marley Counterflow Cooling Towers in Singapore
As the official distributor of Marley cooling towers in Singapore, Stolz Engineering can advise on the Marley counterflow range. With a compact footprint and options ranging from low-sound units for urban sites to high-capacity modular towers, Marley counterflow towers suit projects where space is at a premium.
How a Counterflow Cooling Tower Works
In a counterflow cooling tower, hot water is sprayed through pressurized nozzles above the fill and falls downward, while air moves vertically through the fill in the opposite direction. As a small portion of the water evaporates, heat is removed, and the cooled water collects in the basin below before returning to your system.
Because air and water meet head-on, counterflow towers can deliver the required cooling in a smaller plan area, making them well suited to rooftops and sites where space is limited.
Marley Counterflow Cooling Tower Models
Marley MD
391–3,323 kW
A factory-assembled, induced-draft counterflow tower that needs less plan area than a comparable crossflow tower for many HVAC and light industrial applications. Large access doors and removable fill simplify maintenance.
Marley MD Everest
5,394–16,676 kW
A high-capacity modular counterflow tower for data centres, district cooling and industrial complexes. Built in factory-assembled modules, it installs much faster than a field-erected tower.
Marley MCW
624–2,150 kW
A factory-assembled, forced-draft counterflow tower with centrifugal fans and a fully contained splash zone, designed for low sound in noise- and space-sensitive urban sites.
Marley CP
1,134–5,878 kW
An induced-draft counterflow tower with a stainless steel structure and fiberglass casing for corrosion resistance. A choice of fill media suits clean to dirty water applications.
When to Choose a Counterflow Cooling Tower
Space is limited: counterflow towers typically need less plan area than crossflow towers of similar capacity.
Noise is a concern: low-sound models such as the MCW suit urban and noise-sensitive sites.
You need high capacity in a modular package: the MD Everest delivers large-scale cooling with faster installation than a field-erected tower.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main advantage of a counterflow cooling tower?
Counterflow towers typically need less plan area than crossflow towers of similar capacity, which makes them a good fit for rooftops and space-limited sites.
Which Marley counterflow cooling tower is right for my project?
It depends on your cooling load, available space, sound limits and water quality. The MCW suits smaller, noise-sensitive sites, the MD covers a wide range of HVAC and light industrial loads, and the MD Everest handles the largest loads.
Is a counterflow cooling tower harder to maintain than a crossflow tower?
Counterflow towers use pressurised spray nozzles that sit inside the tower, so they are less exposed for inspection than crossflow basins. Marley counterflow towers such as the MD address this with large access doors and removable fill.
