Marley Crossflow Cooling Towers in Singapore

Stolz Engineering supplies, installs and maintains Marley crossflow cooling towers across Singapore. From compact units for small buildings to high-capacity towers for district cooling and industrial plants, the Marley crossflow range covers a wide span of cooling loads.

How a Crossflow Cooling Tower Works

In a crossflow cooling tower, hot water enters open basins at the top of the tower and flows down through the fill by gravity, while a fan draws air horizontally across the falling water. As a small portion of the water evaporates, heat is removed, and the cooled water collects in the basin below before returning to your system.

Because the water distribution basins are open and gravity-fed, they are easy to inspect and clean. On Marley NC towers, this can even be done while the tower is running, which helps keep downtime to a minimum.

Marley Crossflow Cooling Tower Models

Marley NC Class crossflow cooling tower

Marley NC

101–2,189 tons (444–9,623 kW) per cell

Marley's flagship crossflow cooling tower, in service since 1968 and available factory-assembled or for field erection. Its gravity-flow water distribution and gear drive are designed for low maintenance. Marley NC Steel models supplied by Stolz Engineering are SGBP certified.

Marley NC Everest

1,311–2,189 tons (5,763–9,623 kW) per cell

The highest-capacity member of the NC family, designed for large HVAC, district cooling and heavy industrial loads. It offers significantly more cooling capacity than other factory-assembled crossflow towers, with fewer components to install and maintain.

Marley AV Series

125–772 tons (550–3,394 kW)

A compact, factory-assembled crossflow tower with a single-sided air intake, so it can sit close to walls or other equipment on tight sites. Quick to install and energy efficient, it is often chosen to replace older forced-draft towers.

Marley Aquatower

7–126 tons (28–554 kW)

One of the first factory-assembled cooling towers ever made, with more than 50,000 installations worldwide. All of its main components are open to view, making it one of the easiest towers to maintain. Suited to smaller cooling loads.

Marley NC Alpha (Splash Fill)

290–2,700 US gpm

A factory-assembled crossflow tower with splash fill instead of film fill, built for "dirty water" systems where debris or contaminants would clog conventional fill, such as some industrial processes.

Marley NX Series

101–840 tons per cell

A fiberglass crossflow tower developed for the Asia-Pacific region and erected on site. Its corrosion-resistant construction and low-sound fans suit air-conditioning systems and light to medium industrial loads on clean water.

When to Choose a Crossflow Cooling Tower

Maintenance access is a priority: open basins and large access doors make inspection simpler and safer.

You want to reduce pumping energy: gravity-flow water distribution typically needs less pump head than pressurised spray systems.

Your site has the space: crossflow towers generally need more plan area than counterflow towers of similar capacity. If space is limited, see our counterflow cooling towers.

Your water quality is challenging: splash-fill models such as the NC Alpha are designed for dirty water applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Marley crossflow cooling tower is right for my project?

It depends on your cooling load, available space, water quality and sound requirements. The Aquatower suits small loads, the AV Series suits space-sensitive sites, the NC and NX cover a wide mid-to-large range, and the NC Everest handles the largest loads. Our team can recommend the right model for your project.

Are Marley crossflow cooling towers green building certified in Singapore?

Yes. Marley NC Steel cooling towers supplied by Stolz Engineering Pte. Ltd. are certified under the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) scheme by the Singapore Green Building Council, with selected models rated Very Good (2 Ticks).

Can a crossflow cooling tower be maintained while it is running?

On Marley NC towers, the gravity-flow water distribution system can be inspected and cleaned without turning off the pumps, which helps reduce downtime for critical facilities.

Do you install field-erected crossflow cooling towers?

Yes. Alongside factory-assembled towers, we install field-erected cooling towers that are supplied as prefabricated components and assembled on site.
